Description

Starting time at 03:00pm.

Whether you are staying in Mykonos, the neighbouring Tinos or arriving by cruise ship, this sailing yacht cruise is the definitive way to experience the Aegean. In a single day, you will explore the islands of Delos and Rhenia —two of Greece's most sacred and historic sites— making it the undisputed highlight of any vacation itinerary.

After you reach the embarkation point and meet us at the sailing yacht (pick-up transfer service is optional and available upon your request, after booking) one of our cruise representatives and crew will greet you and give you an overview of the cruise itinerary and a safety briefing.

We lift the anchors from Mykonos and sail across the Aegean toward the uninhabited islet of Rhenia, also known as "Big Delos". Along the way, you may also spot - just 10 nautical miles away - the Island of Tinos, adding to the stunning Cycladic scenery.

After approximately 1 hour sailing, we reach Rhenia, which is accessible only via yacht, making it a small secluded paradise compared to the crowded beaches of Mykonos. The refreshing turquoise salty waters are inviting you for a relaxing swim entering the clear sea by the yacht swimming ladder (pier facilities or tendering ashore are not available). Snorkeling gear is available on board for free use at your convenience.

On board early-dinner is ready. It is either a specially made Italian pasta with Greek flavored dressing instantly cooked on board & Greek salad or a Mediterranean style buffet and juicy seasonal fruits. A selection of complimentary house wine, beers and soft drinks are also offered.

After spending approximately 2 hours in the untouched islet of Rhenia, the next stop is the UNESCO-listed Island of Delos, one of the most important and sacred archaeological sites in Greek history. Immerse yourself on a self-guided Virtual Tour with the 3D Web App in your own device, crafted by archaeologists and available in 9 audio languages (English, French, Spanish, German, Greek, Italian, Polish, Russian, Portuguese).

Delos island was a major commercial and religious center of the Mediterranean with about 30.000 inhabitants between 2.500 and 69 BC. At disposal about 1 hour to explore leisurely - with the 3D Web App at your preferred language - the main remarkable monuments and impressive mosaics of Delos as they were in antiquity, such as the Terrace of the Lions, the House of Dionysus and Trident, the Ancient Theatre and the Sanctuary of Apollo.

We are ready to sail back to Mykonos by watching the breathtaking landscape of yellow, orange and red colours while the sun goes down in the very blue Aegean Sea. We will say goodbye in the Greek way with a farewell shot drink toast and returning home full of euphoria for having shared with you our Greece, whose destiny is bound to the sea and sailing is the best way to experience it.

*Thanks to frequent ferry routes connecting Tinos and Mykonos throughout the day, this sailing yacht cruise is also fully accessible for travelers staying in Tinos who can easily hop on for a day escape in Mykonos (without a hotel overnight), making this sailing cruise the perfect addition to their vacation itinerary.

Details on Meeting Point

The meeting point is subject to change and to be confirmed the day before, depending on the current weather conditions and on the finalized embarkation point. You will be able to recognize one of the cruise representatives and crew by their t-shirt or sign saying 'Sunfos Alessia Yachting'.

Pick-up and drop-off shuttle service is optional when applicable and available upon your request, after booking. Transfers will be arranged either from/ to your hotel or a designated meeting point depending on the location of your accommodation. Please contact us after booking, if required.

Good to Know

Good health is necessary and moderate physical fitness level matches to the sailing cruise requirements • Cases of pregnancy, mobility and health restrictions must be advised before reservation and are subject to reconfirmation in order to ensure the safe participation of the passenger on cruise • For the self-guided tour of Delos, Sunfos Alessia Yachting gives access to the link of the 3D Web App which the participant will use only through his own portable device (mobile, tablet, etc.). Each participant wishing to use the 3D Web App at Delos must be equipped with his portable personal device, which if not available, Sunfos Alessia Yachting is not in charge to provide any device to the participant and will accept no responsibility for such a missed service • Children aged under 2 years old are complimentary • The sequence of waypoints visited is determined by the weather conditions and operational constraints • Number of guests may vary according to the yacht allocated and to the current weather conditions as to ensure a safe and comfortable experience.

Weather Conditions

Mykonos is nicknamed “Island of Winds”. The Cyclades - the complex of islands where Mykonos belongs to - have been geographically shaped from the phenomenon of wind called “Meltemi”. Every summer the low barometric pressure from the Balkans clashes with the higher hot blasts from Africa and in this way the north wind of “Meltemi” is formed. Thus, the wind in Mykonos is completely normal and part of the lifestyle of both locals and visitors. It will ultimately leave its mark on your own Mykonos holiday album. According to the weather during the cruise, the selected beaches for swimming are the most protected ones and less windy. After all, this is also the experience of being on a sailing yacht, setting the sails to the wind needed as it is the primary engine power. Occasionally during the season there might not be enough wind or the convenient wind direction to set sails and only in such cases, the sailing route will be motorized.

Health & Safety

Our sailing yachts are fully equipped with all the necessary safety measures and tools required by the Greek law, such as life jackets, life raft & first aid kit. The safety of our guests is our No1 priority and our dedicated land-based and onboard teams are always available to assist you in order to ensure a safe and enjoyable sailing experience.
